LRSAFS Long Range Scout Armored Fighting Suit
|
This is my entry for the Maschinen Kreiger Group Build #3. It's the Luna Pawn AFS (Jason Eaton's Build up
pictured)converted to be a close cousin to a SAFS . In my mind its a long range scout version that is
meant to operate on advanced missions without support. I hope that the shape echo's the SAFS
when it's done. I'll probably build a small 'hump' on the front piece to try and again, mimic the SAFS
The basic putty work has begun. Also started on the top hatch.
Sanding, sanding, sanding..........getting closer, lots of finish sanding, polishing, a few more details,
the gun arm, maybe a few small lumps that MaK seems to love. Stuff stuff stuff.......man I suck at
making weld seams.
Almost done with the build phase. Just a few spots to sand, the it's off to the paint shop. I have no
idea about color or scheme yet. The more I look at it the more it looks like a second generation
Archelon.

Well, I tried one paint scheme, and tried a new technique. It sucked. So into the degreaser, and I'll try methods I know
work, and follow color palettes laid down by Sensai Kow. Live and learn. I did get cracking on the base and also
replaced the kit supplied hose with some Wave option part spring. Or Kotobukiya, I cannot remember the brand... The
base os just plain ol' Balsa Foam and some dried parsley

Restarted the paint job, found yet again a few areas that needs a little putty. Oh well, it's not much. The color is
Tamiya Light Sea Grey, thinned with alcohol. I did add armor over the hand. Several people have commented on
using fake fingernails. Well, I went looking and came across a set of fake toenails. I swear I did not even know they
MADE fake toenails. The wife swears she did not either. Anyway, same price as the fingernail box, and you get 96
pieces. I won't ever need to buy more of these. I'll still pick up the finger ones, they are a little longer, gives me a
variety of shapes. I think this one is for the toe that had no roast beef...
Painting is coming along. The oils I use for filters really change the tone. I still need to seal it again, a few spot washes,
a little drybrushing and maybe a tonal filter or two and it's done. I did add one more "lump" to the laser arm.
